What a weekend!

This years Motion Festival was a great success. Beginning Friday morning we took over the Clonakilty Community Colleges PE classes to teach them circus skills. Friday evening one of the best fire shows I've ever seen (and i've seen a lot!) happened at Emmet Square with spectacular performances from many of Europes top fire performers.

Saturday began with children's workshops and all day workshops ran for mature and professional artists and enthusasts in circus, juggling and dance.
In Asna Square there were street performances from artists from around the world.
That evening an amazing Gala show featuring some of the worlds most talented and innovative artists was very well recieved by convention goers and the public alike.
The evening ended with yet another hilarious and incredible Renegade Show at the Imperial Hotel.

On Sunday the convention finished with very silly and fun "Juggling Olympics" at Emmet Square -  a great family event for everyone who didn't make it to the match.

A huge thank you to all that helped to make the festival such a success; the organisation team, Hazel, Guillaume, Chloe, Ann, Eimhin and Darragh; the artists for sharing their amazing talents and for all their work running up to and over the weekend: Matthias, Cyrille, Aragorn, Nicolas, Cian and Cormac, Nico, Cecilia, Lukas, Camille, Meg and Keith, Thomas, Niss and the Troubadors, Petra ;
To my parents, Karen and Con, for all their support leading up to, during and after the festival helping with organisation, feeding and hosting the artists and their overall enthusiasm and help - ye are both stars;
To Mat for doing such a great job with the website, posters, and everything else;
A huge shout out to Anne Culinane for all her help and enthusiasm for the festival and for giving us such amazing support;
And a big thank you to all the people during the festival who helped out to make sure the event ran smoothly, from decoration to lighting, stage management, childrens workshops, setting things up and cleaning up afterwards, and countless other bits and bobs - too many people to mention but especially to Cork Circus, Tom, Steven, Bill and Stevie, Audrey, Sam and Les and everyone else who did things big and small that I may not have even noticed but helped to make the weekend what it was.

Hope to see ye all again next year!

Ronan

EARLY OPENING:

We will be opening the hall to begin setting up Thursday evening at around 10:30pm after badminton. Early arrivals are welcome to join us for a warm up juggle, to say hello and a helping hand is always appreciated.

Friday morning: the convention will officially begin at 10am

See ye there

BREAKING NEWS

We will be beginning the convention Thursday night for any early arrivals - exact time to be confirmed. This means we will be able to use the hall all of Friday instead of opening at 4pm. In exchange I have agreed to teach the morning PE classes circus skills. There are 3 one hour classes between 9am and 1pm. This should use up around half of the hall, leaving the rest for everyone else who want to play. If you have experience teaching beginner workshops we would really appreciate anyone who can give up an hour of their time to help. Please contact me here if you are interested

There was a couple of people worried about the renegade show not being mentioned, well worry no furher - of course we're having a renegade show. How could we not after last years epic renegade! (if anyone took some video/photos of this please contact me)

We are still looking for street performers, if anyone would like to spend a little time performing their show on the street please contact me.

Can't afford the convention? Then volunteer! Contact Guillaume our volunteer organiser here. Depending on the hours you put in you can get reduced or even free entry!

So the convention is fast approaching, and possibly even faster than anticipated. There is a possibility (to be confirmed) that we will start the convention a day earlier, i.e. starting Thursday night. This would give us a full day on Friday instead of starting at 4pm, effectively doubling the length of the convention. Once again this has not been confirmed and we are awaiting more information.

Anyone looking to book apartments Clona Holiday Homes have agreed to give a reduced rate for convention goers.

Pre registration ends the 18th September.

STREET PERFORMANCES:

This year we are arranging street performance pitches in the centre of Clonakilty – a great way for people to help cover their costs/make some money while at the convention as well as entertainment for the town and a way to let people know what is going on. Send me an email if you or your group would like to sign up!

VOLUNTEERS:

We are looking for volunteers to help run everything once again. As the event becomes more and more complex we need more and more help to make sure things run smoothly and I’m not stressed out of my brain. Please contact us if you are up for volunteering, people who volunteer for extended periods of time may be rewarded with food and possibly even free entry. We are looking for people to help set up, decorate, steward people during the public events, teach childrens workshops, etc, etc. please get involved. Send me a message.
